I hope you meant Anna from Frozen and not like Anna from Bioshock! Initially was going to put her in an actual school uniform, but Norway doesn’t seem to have those, so I thought the Beauxbatons one would be a nice difference
a little girl in the grocery store just asked me if i was a princess because my dress was pretty and i said everyone’s a princess and she pointed to her dad and asked if he was a princess too and her dad said yep its true im a princess and she looked so happy idk it was adorable
"A person of good intelligence and sensitivity cannot exist in this society very long without having some anger about the inequality - and it’s not just a bleeding-heart, knee-jerk, liberal kind of a thing - it is just a normal human reaction to a nonsensical set of values where we have cinnamon flavored dental floss and there are people sleeping in the street" ~ George Carlin
This man was a pure genius.
The comic works just as well if you ignore the class labels - the white man rides straight to the top, the white woman can MAYBE make it if she climbs the treacherous rope, and the POC is going to have to learn to fly.
The client wanted his character to be a “hydra” version of the original design. I’m always happy to do a little creature design on the side, and brainstormed some quick concepts for where and how to fit the multitude of heads and limbs.
After cementing the basics of the main character, I drew thumbnails to figure out the poses and general elements of the picture.
ART TIP: Get in the habit of doing thumbs for larger pieces and save yourself from hours of grief!
This commission was a collaboration between M. and yours truly. I did the initial sketchwork, background and final rendering. M. painted all of the figures up until the final frame of this .gif. Near the end I forced her to change directions on the palette and undo hours of work because I was unhappy with the colour-harmony. I still feel bad about that, but I think the result was worth it.
ART TIP: Do quick value/colour studies beforehand and block in larger elements before adding details… and save yourself from hours of grief!
